Alpine Pet Care is Lainey Smith, born and raised in Alpine, Utah. I have loved animals for as long as I can remember, so when at a young age I found out that some people would PAY for me to come hang out with their pets while they were out of town? I couldn’t believe it! I began pet sitting at 11, and did so regularly for multiple families in our surrounding area all through school. Now, I am a biology major at UVU pursuing a career in wildlife biology. After working different part time jobs for the last 7 years, I decided it was time to go back to what I TRULY love, which is pets!
I worked at Alpine Animal Hospital for 2 years as the boarder care technician, taking care of the pets staying at the facility overnight and for extended stays. One thing that always bothered me was that there was never enough time to give the pets the attention I felt they needed! Needs were met and they were always well taken care of, but I could see the sadness in their sweet faces when I had to lock up and head out. Every day when I went into work, I would tell myself “Treat them how you would want Shadow to be treated if she was staying the night here.” This sentiment was impressed upon me by the awesome staff and doctors that I worked with, and I am grateful for those experiences every day. I wanted to start a pet care business that focused on not only ensuring the safety and physical well being of beloved pets, but on caring for them in the way that I would like MY own pet to be treated, with true love and respect.
